Pure Candy Dressing Gown — Sequence #11
Pure Candy Sequence 11 is midnight navy and charcoal with its color held close. A faint blue-violet lattice runs through the dark ground, while restrained rust-red flecks and a narrow vertical trace appear only in small doses. The gown’s broad panels give those quiet details room to register without turning them into a loud repeat.
The artwork on the gown
At the center is a restrained rust-and-blue vertical trace within a dark navy lattice. The palette combines midnight navy and charcoal ground, subdued rust-red flecks, faint blue-violet lattice.
The gown form
The wrap-front gown has a dark shawl-style collar, long sleeves, waist tie and front pockets.
Living with the work
This is a low-light member of the family: useful when you want pattern present but not insistent. Its rust and blue traces also prepare the eye for the warmer copper work of Sequence 12. River Jade Smithy treats this as original artwork by Travis Huffaker carried into a useful house layer for preparation, rest, return, and the quieter intervals around a day.
With gratitude for your presence in the work, may this piece serve as both useful form and a continuing encounter with the art.
